Competition Report

Last Sunday a squad of 10 from CUKC represented the club at the first Isambard Kingdom Brunel British Open Kata Championships in Slough. The competition was open to students and non students and we were fortunate enough to be welcoming back members of the university squad who haven't competed for us for a few years now.

One such competitor was Ken Hori, well known in the club for his great kata sessions. He peformed an impressive Sochin to get him through to the finals of the masters catagory, taking the silver medal a very close final.

Roman Sztyler demonstrated 3 stunning kata on his way to the over-18s 3rd Kyu and above final, and took the title with another stunning trademark performance of Unsu.

As always all members of the squad perfomed very well, many getting through several rounds despite missing out on medals. It was great that Cambridge was able to support this new event and Brunel Univsersity are promising to organise more competitions in the future.
