Competition Report

First to take to the mat were the Dan grade kata competitors. An impressive variety of katas were on show, with a mixed selection of Shotokan and non-Shotokan katas demonstrated. Winston came out ahead and won the category. Next up were the Kyu grade kata entries, where Dao achieved first place.
After the kata categories, the competition moved to focus on kumite. In the mixed Dan grade kumite, Eleanor triumphed over Michael, her much taller opponent, in the finals to win the category. Bence defeated his opponents and won the Kyu grade competition.
Having placed highly in both kata and kumite, Bence won the Alvaro Angeriz Award.
Congratulations to all our competitors, particularly the new beginners that bravely performed Kihon Kata after only sending a few weeks at CUKC.
