Competition Report

The team representing CUKC comprised Jonathan Sinclair-Williams (Capt), Ellen Weaver (Capt), Heng Xuan Teo, Scott Ang and Ronald Prokes.

Scott, Ron & Jonny competed in team kata, convincingly winning each of their three elimination kata rounds including their dismissal of last years champions.

In the finals they competed against another KUGB team from Sunderland. Their stunning performance of empi and very convincing bunkai secured a unanimous verdict in their favour and so, following a gap of several years, Cambridge University are once again team kata champions of BUCS.

Of the other entries the most notable successes were Heng Xuan who proceeded through 4 rounds of the senior men's individual kata losing only in the semi finals to the eventual winner and last years champion in the 5th. Unfortunately this exhausted his repertoire of katas and compromised his performance in the repecharge. Ellen won her first two kumite matches before losing in the semi finals and in her repecharge match.

Congratulations to the team on a stunning performance in this one of the largest BUCS championship ever.
