Membership & licences

Training fees

The club has introduced a new pricing scheme for the 2015-2016 academic year.

If you are an undergraduate or graduate student, the rate per lesson is £4. You may alternatively get termly full-membership for £60 (equivalent to 15 lessons) or termly half-membership for £30. Full-membership will entitle you to train as often as you wish. Half-membership entitles you to train once a week throughout term.

If you are another member of the university (alumnus or employee), the rate per lesson is £6. You may alternatively get termly full-membership for £60 (equivalent to 10 lessons) or termly half-membership for £30. Full-membership will entitle you to train as often as you wish. Half-membership entitles you to train once a week throughout term.

If you are not a member of the university, the rate per lesson is £6. You may alternatively get termly full-membership for £84 or termly half-membership for £36. Full-membership will entitle you to train as often as you wish. Half-membership entitles you to train once a week throughout term.

Licences

Everyone who does a martial art must have a licence. Licences provide insurance cover in the case of an accident — don't worry, this pretty much never happens, but the safety net is there in case it does. In order to train at CUKC you'll need a licence from the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB), which is our parent association. Licences are available for download and printout from the KUGB website. Just follow this link, fill one in, and send it off together with a passport-sized photograph and a cheque for £27.
