OKA vs CUKC Match 2016

The Old Karateka Association (OKA) Match sees a squad of CUKC alumni square up against the current CUKC elite, competing in both kata and kumite. This year saw the welcome return of the OKA Match.

Competition Report

Following on from the stunning success of the 2006 encounter which was won by CUKC only after a deciding kata match, this years event had a lot to live up to.

This was a magnificent match with two evenly balanced teams. After two rounds of Shobu Ippon kumite with some outstanding points scored, which included 3 full ippons (Francisco, Petre & Donatas) the current CUKC team, by a margin of six wins to five, emerged as this years winners.

Thank you to Jacus for officiating and Scott and Judy for scoring and time keeping.

Congratulations to the old boys who put on a great show, and also to the current team who won the match with the very last fight!

Thanks to all involved for making this a fitting celebration of 40 years of Cambridge University Karate Club.
